FRESHMAN HAWK FINISHES 6TH IN STATE

McCutchen Finishes 6th in State

Birdville’s Lila McCutchen represented Hawk Swim and Dive at the State Meet on February 23rd and 24th.

McCutchen has had an impressive freshman campaign. In a region and state known for its powerhouse swimmers, McCutchen's name is now affiliated.

McCutchen first showed her prowess in the water at the district meet where she finished 1st in the 200 IM and 2nd in 100 Backstroke. Those finishes qualified her for a spot in the regional races.

At the Regional Meet, McCutchen did not disappoint. 200 IM was a race to the finish, with McCutchen finishing right behind first place with a 2.09.69 time. Although the time did not solidify first place, it was fast enough to medal. Her second event she swam the 100 Backstroke time at 57.35 seconds. That time set her up top the podium for the Gold at regionals. McCutchen collected both the silver and gold for her two events and with that, headed to State.

At state she was able to exact her revenge on the regional first place winner of the 200 IM and take 6th place from her opponent. She also placed 6th in the 100 Backstroke besting her own time with a 57.35. The 6th best swimmer in the state is a Freshman at Birdville High School.

Congratulations to Hawk Swim and Dive and McCutchen on an incredible season, you represented Birdville well!

Til Next Time,
