HAWKS KICKOFF FRIDAY

HAWKS KICKOFF FRIDAY

Friday Night Lights is finally upon us, with your Birdville Hawk Football Team taking

the field Friday against Crowley High school in their first game of the 2023 season.

Last year the Hawks finished second in their district going 7-1 and 8-3 overall, before taking a loss to Frisco Wakeland in Playoffs. The Hawks had 21 All District Selections at the conclusion of the 2022 season. 5 Honorable Mention players, 7 Second-Team, and 9 First Team All-District players.

Although the Hawks lost quite a few stand out players from last year, rejoining the Hawks District 5-5A Offensive Newcomer of the Year, Noah Normand. In his sophomore year Normand had a total of 2,085 yards and averaged 14.5 yards per completion. Normand will remain in the quarterback position and ready to lead his team.

Also returning is senior running back, Jaylen Davis. In only 4 games last year but Davis still achieved 329 rushing yards. Davis was honored by being named District 5-5A 2nd Team Running Back. Among others, Davis is expected to lead the offensive charge for the Hawks.

Defensively another senior is ready to take his place and steer a seemingly young Hawk defense towards success, Jayden Nafegar. Nafegar was named District 5-5A 1st Team Outside Linebacker for the 2022 season. He played in 9 games with 106 Total tackles; 38 of those solo.

Coach Lon Holbrook heads into his 23rd year as a football coach at Birdville High School and his 8th year as the head coach. Under Coach Holbrook the Hawks have seen 5 playoff runs with the farthest team finishing as Quarterfinal Qualifiers, and 107 All-District Players.

Hawk Football can be seen in action this Friday night under the Crowley High School stadium lights at 7 pm.
