HAWKS BLAZE INTO DISTRICT

HAWKS BLAZE INTO DISTRICT

Only one game stands between the Hawks and district play. Birdville is currently boasting a 10-3 record, with all three losses coming from 6A schools. Undeniably the Hawks loaded their preseason schedule to face some of the most challenging schools in the area including Mansfield, Haltom and Eaton -  all 6A powerhouse basketball teams. They face another powerful rival this Friday at home.

The Hawks have been on an offensive tear throughout the first 13 games. Outshooting their opponents 776 to 637, averaging almost 65 points per game. Birdville also possesses a 45 field goal percentage as a team and a 34% for 3 points. The Hawks are also dangerous on the free throw line making 76% of their shots. The Hawks offense may be the center point for stats, but their defense has been behind the scenes making the rest of the game shine. Defensively the Hawks have held their opponents to an average of 53 points per game. Their explosive and aggressive style of play has accounted for 120 steals and 32 blocks.

Birdville is undoubtedly ready for their district that lies ahead. Last year the Hawks finished 2nd in District 7-5A with a 9-5 record and a 17-14 overall. The Hawks season came to an unsavory end in the first round of playoffs when they lost a heartbreaking game to Burleson Centennial where the Hawks came up short by 1 point.

Hoping for another solid year the Hawks have been nothing if not determined and focused. Birdville faces Keller Central as their last preseason game before hoping to continue their dominance in district. The Hawks will be live from Birdville on Friday December 15th at 7:00 pm. Prior to the winter break the Hawks will be in action one more time to face District foe - Denton High School. Both men and women basketball teams will play the district match on Tuesday, December 19th. Women start at 5:45 pm with the Men following suit at 7:00 pm.
