9 Athletes Sign 

National Letter of Intent


9 Seniors represent Birdville at the second signing of the year. There were four Hawk sports represented, Volleyball, Football,  Women’s Basketball and Soccer.


Football had three seniors sign on National Signing day, February 7, 2024. All three seniors were impactful for the Hawk Football team.


Caleb-Scott Kelley is headed to Mcpherson, Kansas where he will join the McPherson College Bulldogs. McPherson is part of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference - NAIA. Kelley was a 2 year letter winner for the Hawks and in 2023 was named 5-5A D1 1st Team All-District Wide Reciever. 


Luke Lacey will join the Crimson Storm of Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma. SNU is a part of the Great American Conference - NCAA. Lacey was a staple for the Hawks lettering three years in a row. He was also a true student-athlete and was named Honorable Mention Academic All-State for football. In 2023 Lacey received the honor of First Team All District Offensive Lineman. 


Anthony Martinez stays close to home and joins the Texas Wesleyan Rams. The Rams are part of the Sooner Athletic Conference - NAIA. Martinez helped the Hawks defense in the two seasons he lettered being named 2nd Team All-District Defensive Line in 2022 and Honorable Mention Linebacker in 2023. He also was Honorable Mention Academic All-State. 


Soccer signed four on early signing day back in November, and still added 3 more signees this round. 


Kiana Picotte heads to Southwestern Adventist University located in Keene, Texas. Picotte will join the Knights in the Southwest Region of the National Christian College Athletic Association. Picotte had three prolific years in the Junior Varsity program before making her debut this year on Varsity. 


Chloe Mendiola signed on to be a Yellow Jacket at Howard Payne University  in Brownwood, TX. HPU is part of the American Southwest Conference in the NCAA. Mendiola has spent three years on Varsity and after overcoming an injury her junior year is ready to help the Hawks to a stellar season. 


Cora Nichols heads to Conoway, Arkansas to join the Hendrix College Warriors. Hendrix is a part of the Southern Athletic Association with the NCAA. Nichols lettered as a Freshman and has been a force for Birdville soccer being named All-District every year she has played. 


Birdville Volleyball has been a perennial powerhouse in the past years. Making playoffs the last 12 years. This year they had six seniors that helped them continue in that tradition. Two of them signed yesterday. 


Riley Weiher stays close to home while furthering her athletic pursuit while playing at Dallas College North Lake in Irving, Texas. The Blazers are in the Metro Athletic Conference NJCAA. Weiher has been a Varsity member for three years and was honored with being named All-District Honorable Mention. 


Lyric Steward joins the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith Lions. UAFS is found in Fort Smith, Arkansas and is a part of the Lonestar Conference NCAA. Steward was a four year letter winner for Hawk Volleyball and integral in the success of the program. In 2023 Steward was named Utility Player of the Year. Steward amassed a stellar record of 1120 kills in her career at Birdville. 



Mia LaCour is the stand alone signee representing Hawk Women’s Basketball. LaCour is headed to Big Spring, Texas to join the Hawks of Howard College. Howard is a part of the Western Junior College Athletic Association - Region 5. Lacour finished her career at Birdville after three years on Varsity. In 2023 Lacour was named 2nd Team All-District. This years awards have yet to be announced. 


Congratulations to all our Birdville signees. The dedication you put into both academics and athletics is unmatched. The Hawks are cheering you on in your next adventure!
